Color Psychology in Home Decoration

Color profoundly influences how we feel in a space. Warm neutrals (beige, cream, warm gray) create calm and comfort — ideal for bedrooms and living rooms. Earth tones (terracotta, olive, brown) ground a space and connect to nature. Deep colors (navy, forest green, charcoal) add drama and sophistication in accent pieces. White and light colors make rooms feel larger and airier. The 60-30-10 rule works well: 60% dominant color, 30% secondary, 10% accent. Natural wood tones count as neutrals and add warmth to any palette.
